UK IMMIGRATION EXPERTS WITH WIDE EXPERIENCE IN BOTH THE CORPORATE AND PERSONAL FIELDS

Caterers protest over migration rules

ch_chef.jpgThousands of people gathered to protest against changes to the immigration system that they believe could damage the ethnic catering business. Members of the Bangladeshi, Indian, Pakistani, Turkish and Chinese communities gathered in Trafalgar Square to voice fears about changes to the immigration laws.
They believe that the new rules, which include a points-based immigration system, would reduce the number of skilled cooks and chefs coming to Britain. This could have a drastic effect on the British curry and Chinese food industry since there would be fewer people to work in restaurants and takeaways.
The Ethnic Catering Alliance, which organised the protest, said that the new rules favoured highly skilled migrants who could fill gaps in the labour market. A spokesman said: “Successive governments’ immigration policies have neglected to recognise the needs of skilled labour for Britain’s ethnic catering enterprises. The new system will exacerbate this.”
